Dr. Leicht recently had a conversation with previous Veterinary Project Podcast guest Elaine Clemenson in which she made the comment “don’t believe everything you see on Instagram!”
The comment stuck with Jonathan throughout the week and became the impetus for this episode.
The reality is, what we see on Instagram is in most cases surface-level material designed to catch attention. It’s important for us to remind ourselves that this is often the case, and that behind the photos, the carefully curated text, and the gloss and glamor is so much more than meets the eye.
To drive this point home, Dr. Leicht and Dr. Bugg discuss a number of topics including:
- Mike’s recent 10k run race and behind the scenes of his post-race state of mind
- The Gap and The Gain
- Pass / Fail mentality in vet med
- Peak performance vs. optimal performance
- How two pieces of contradictory advice can both be true depending on the season of life you’re in
